As with a low sucking sound it slowly disappeared again, Starbuck still gazing at the agitated waters where it had sunk, with a wild voice exclaimed—“Almost rather I had seen Moby Dick and fought him, than to have seen thee, thou white ghost!”
“What was it, Sir?” said Flask.
“The great live squid, which, they say, few whale-ships ever beheld and returned to their ports to tell of it.”

Moby-Dick, 1851

Guys, FURL sucks. It has sucked for years, and I'm sorry I've been using it. I have switched over to delicious; I would have done this much sooner, but they made it really difficult the last time I tried.

4-21-08  Archives
Uhmm, apparently archives haven't really been working since late 2006. THANX for the heads up guys! They are temporarily fixed, and will stay temporarily fixed until I migrate to new software/layout. I have said some hilarious things in the last 7 years, that future generations will feel lucky I preserved. Go check them out.

1-18-08  new iPhone icon
Woah, it's been 3 years since the last news update! Fuzzysquid now has a webclips icon for your iPhone! It'll automagically show up when you add FS to your home screen. Atom and RSS feeds have been available for a few years now, but I never made special mention of it.

1-14-05  LJ images
Since it seems to be popular, and it's been linked in a lot of different places besides here, I've decided to post the LJ Images page. At least in the news, at least for now. It's also getting some Google ads because you LiveJournal people are sucking up all my bandwidth (35% for that one page!)

4-02-04  FURL
Check out what I've been browsing: FURL.net bookmark archive. Not much commentary, relevance, or sequitur—but it's what's keeping this blog from turning into a meme dumpster.

  1. TONMO - The Octopus News Magazine Online. Invaluable.

Hmm. Quite an astute observation, Benny. Oh wait, you are talking about these guys, right?

There have been fight clubs wherever I've gone. There was one in Pittsburgh, there are many in New York, and there's at least one here in SF...

Anyway, here's what Bill has to say about all this:

"I don't think of Hobbes as a doll that miraculously comes to life when Calvin's around. Neither do I think of Hobbes as the product of Calvin's imagination. The nature of Hobbes's reality doesn't interest me, and each story goes out of its way to avoid resolving the issue. Calvin sees Hobbes one way, and everyone else sees Hobbes another way. I show two versions of reality, and each makes complete sense to the participant who sees it. I think that's how life works. None of us sees the world in exactly the same way, and I just draw that literally in the strip. Hobbes is more about the subjective nature of reality than about dolls coming to life." - Watterson

I was thinking...did chuck palahniuk have calvin & hobbes in mind when he wrote "fight club."

calvin : hobbes :: narrator (ed norton) : tyler durden (brad pitt)

Well, lots, but I think you're asking about the hospital. Well, Joe's been in Korea for the last 3 weeks and he brought me back a present... STREP. How thoughtful. Thankfully, I appear to be symptom free so far (though I did mistakenly eat his green curry last night, so who knows). If I die from the combination of leftover thai, strep, and no medical insurance, let the cat know I loved her. Ah truly, the ones we love hurt us the most. (Picture of scar to follow.)

It's not been clear, because I've not explicitly said so, but I moved into a new apartment two weeks ago. I'm sharing a house on top of a hill with three roommates. The place is pretty ok, but it's got two great views. Plus, private balcony off my bedroom and garage parking. I've been wanting to take a picture, but the weather hasn't been cooperating lately.

I want a house. So I can do this. For more than that one reason.

I should say though, that going to the ER was much easier than I ever thought it would be. In and out within an hour. Probably because there are about 7.3 million less people in San Francisco than there are in New York, with roughly the same amount of hospitals.

I've been having kind of a tough week. Stepped in dog poop twice (once in my own house), picked up Fletcher from the airport and drove him straight to the emergency room, may have caught what he has. And I haven't been able to sleep... sigh.

I'm sitting in my new apartment, by myself, thinking "some chicken soup would be nice." Ok. So looking through all the drawers, I find rolling pins, measuring cups, 3 corkscrews, 2 turkey basters, 2 pizza cutters, a deluxe set of salad tongs, sushi making equipment... basically everything except what I so desperately need: a can opener. This is a good illustration for what my life has been like the last two days.

I used to be smart. I had a sharp wit and a desire to know more about the world. But now I can feel myself getting dumber and dumber each passing year. I'm not as quick as I used to be. I forget things. And I watch Fox, for crapssake.
