As with a low sucking sound it slowly disappeared again, Starbuck still gazing at the agitated waters where it had sunk, with a wild voice exclaimed—“Almost rather I had seen Moby Dick and fought him, than to have seen thee, thou white ghost!”
“What was it, Sir?” said Flask.
“The great live squid, which, they say, few whale-ships ever beheld and returned to their ports to tell of it.”

Moby-Dick, 1851

Guys, FURL sucks. It has sucked for years, and I'm sorry I've been using it. I have switched over to delicious; I would have done this much sooner, but they made it really difficult the last time I tried.

4-21-08  Archives
Uhmm, apparently archives haven't really been working since late 2006. THANX for the heads up guys! They are temporarily fixed, and will stay temporarily fixed until I migrate to new software/layout. I have said some hilarious things in the last 7 years, that future generations will feel lucky I preserved. Go check them out.

1-18-08  new iPhone icon
Woah, it's been 3 years since the last news update! Fuzzysquid now has a webclips icon for your iPhone! It'll automagically show up when you add FS to your home screen. Atom and RSS feeds have been available for a few years now, but I never made special mention of it.

1-14-05  LJ images
Since it seems to be popular, and it's been linked in a lot of different places besides here, I've decided to post the LJ Images page. At least in the news, at least for now. It's also getting some Google ads because you LiveJournal people are sucking up all my bandwidth (35% for that one page!)

4-02-04  FURL
Check out what I've been browsing: FURL.net bookmark archive. Not much commentary, relevance, or sequitur—but it's what's keeping this blog from turning into a meme dumpster.

  1. TONMO - The Octopus News Magazine Online. Invaluable.
  2. Angrywhale - Meet Leonard. He's an angry sort of whale.
  3. The Squid Blog - From the Laughing Squid people.

  4. Moxyberry - Where the cousin is at. Her bookmarks here.
  5. Cranky User - Brian's bookmarks. Updated, unlike his site.
  6. Rosenstock - Her other ride is your mom.

this is crazy. i can't verify if it works since i don't have access to unix (i had OS X briefly, and it was truly painful). in other geek news, the UK Register has a brief article on how to crash someone's phone by SMS. awesome. and finally, the stupidest bet ever made. be sure to read the blogs. god i miss college (incidentally, the home depo by cmu was open 24 hrs a day...)

not sure what to get the geek in your life for the holidays? you can now smell the digital revolution. oh, and let me assure all of you that this is NOT on my wish list. not that any of you would spend a c-note on me anyway. what's interesting is that the proceeds goes to Parsons (School of Design). i'd argue that they could definitely use the charity... speaking of design, i read an interesting article on the importance of designers being careful readers. and if you could care less about design, go read a blog of different importance.

God Almighty. This is the guy in charge of the free world. Gee, all of a sudden, his reasoning behind the missle defense shield becomes rather clear.

i went to the continental while i was in philly, which is this trendy martini bar--a place i'd probably never go to in new york. but in philly its no big deal. shrug. have i told you lately how much i hate soho? and really, most of manhattan. anyway, its almost thanksgiving, so shopping season is pressed right upon us, like a drunk ex-girlfriend on new years. here's a good way to clear up that amazon wish list.

the best part of last night wasn't that i saw meteors (cus i didn't see all that many before i crashed) it was that i actually recognized the constellations! thank you AMNH inflatable planetarium workshop!

sorry i haven't been giving you the daily dose of links... here's something that i saw at spike & mike's animation festival about a year ago: angrykid. it always gives me a good laff when i need one.

dannyboy 10:03 AM (0)

i went to see waking life yesterday with the birthday girl. i liked it a lot, but i wish there was more animation and less rotoscoping. it had a lot of really interesting ideas (of the sort me and zimmer would talk about while eating brownies).

ok. this looks like if its right out of the onion, but i guess all i can say is "go capitalism!" its so awesome and yet so horrifying at the same time.

eito 6:42 AM (0)

sounds shady?! it is shady!!! but i guess it's better than the person who's rumored to have gone out with one sister, and then dump her for the other sister... isn't that right luke?!

dannyboy 12:11 AM (0)

I don't know why I thought of it just now, but I was thinking about this blind date that I had sophomore year of college. It sounds really shady, but we met on IM... (whatever. Shut up.) She just started IM'ing me one day because she had a dream about doing that and remembered my SN. I guess it was important enough for her to try and figure out what it was all about. Anyway, we became friends and pretty much out of the blue she asked me if we wanted to meet. Now I figure, she goes to the same school so she can't be a complete psycho. And she e-mailed me a picture of her dog. You can't be crazy and have a dalmation. Anyway, to make a long story short, we totally didn't hit it off or anything, and she turned out to be someone I would've never in a million years thought to even start a conversation with. Hm. How's that for random.

dannyboy 12:09 AM (0)

so i voted today. er, yesterday. whatever. it's kind of funny... i was actually eager to vote in the primary, but now that is the normal election... i almost didn't go. i was just so turned off by the campaigning from then to now. really, whats the difference, green or bloomberg. they're both shady white men. like i've been saying all along, its time to get the hell out of new york.

dannyboy 2:46 PM (0)

please excuse Inky, he's been under a lot of pressure lately... he's been testing out the new interface for the website, and while everything looks great in IE, Netscape has been more problematic. hopefully, issues will be resolved and a launch will happen by the end of this weekend! (you'll see then why its important he removed the automatic conversions. until then, i'm afraid benny will just have to learn some grammar.)

Inky The Squid 2:41 PM (0)

well, you can all thank benny, because your line breaks will no longer be automatically converted to <br>'s and <p>'s. i'm tired of reformatting your sloppy posts. if you want line breaks and paragraphs, you'll have to hard code them yourself. :P

dannyboy 2:25 PM (0)

oh, and for the record, its not like i don't want to work. i WANT to work. i've been interviewing and chasing down leads. i also like not to talk too much about employment and reality on fuzzysquid... you know. since i'm still sending out resume's from the fuzzysquid address. you guys can feel free to bitch about your jobs though...

dannyboy 2:20 PM (0)

haha. i've got a startling new business plan that i'm going to unveil sometime this weekend. (don't you wish you got in on the ground floor?) anyway, my dad bought the stuff, not me... he refuses to tell my mom how much he spent... so yeah. i just got done watching episode one, which has been called the "best dvd ever made." my eyes are watering and i can't really hear in my right ear anymore...

eito 6:46 AM (0)

i know everyone is thinking it, so i'm going to ask... how can you afford all this when you don't have a job yet?! just between you and me, has fuzzysquid.com, inc. been selling more than just t-shirts lately...

you're going to get a gamecube too? i guess i should get a xbox then. i want to get PS2 so i can play starfighter and metal gear... but it doesn't make sense for BOTH of us to have PS2, right? btw... keep this quiet, but when i came back from california there was a home theatre system in my living room. i can finally watch my dvd's and make the cat sick with the surround sound...

eito 3:02 PM (0)

yes everyone should get a GBA (game boy advance). once i get my gamecube, we can all link up and play pokemon and mario cart together! woohoo...
